Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am working with Rose Espinola of Public Citizen to make the Rock Against the TPP concert on July 23 really big and powerful.  Here again is the URL to the facebook page so you can sign up and get your free tickets for signing a petition demanding that the TPP not be voted on during the lame duck period.Click here to join us at Rock Against the TPP onkJuly 23rd!

This will be the opening concert of a national tour to inform the public, especially young people, about the TPP, why we are working to stop it and what it would mean for our country.  The concert will hopefully convince new people that we are serious, that this is a huge threat to our nation, that we can indeed stop it and that we can have fun doing so.  I am attaching a flyer for your information and to share with your colleagues or members.

Public Citizen relying on volunteer help to put on the concert, so our physical help will be needed on concert night.  As Arthur Stamoulis of PC says, “we’ll be looking for volunteers the evening of the show (to hand out programs, collect postcard signatures, work the merchandise table, etc.)”   He has entrusted me with finding loyal TPP resisters who will be able to help out during the concert.  Here is a link you can use to do so: http://tinyurl.com/DenverVolunteers.  We would all appreciate it.

Meanwhile, in order to prepare for the concert and the message we want to deliver to concert goers, Rose has called for a meeting of dedicated people to talk about the event.  She would like everyone to give some thought to what we want to get out of the concert with the goal of convincing Representatives Ed Perlmutter and Diana DeGette to publicly announce their opposition to the TPP before the lame duck period when Obama is hoping to call for a vote on it.  He knows that elected officials leaving office will risk being unpopular for selling us out with a vote for the TPP, but we can’t let them get away with this trick. 

Rose will call me on Monday late morning to find out how many people are willing to attend a meeting at the Mercury Café on Thursday, June 30 at 6:00 PM to plan for the concert and to build a permanent Denver TPP resistance coalition that will be ready to respond to changing tricks quickly and recruit our members to action.  If you have contact with or responsibility for a group of progressives through your agency, you are especially invited to attend. 

Please give this your serious attention and email me to tell me if you can attend the meeting and/or help out on July 23.  We need to find the energy to keep fighting during this home stretch and insist that Congress reject the TPP once and for all.  We have come so far and achieved so much that we must not rest now.  Then think of the celebration we will have!
