Saturday, April 14 BOULDER 99% Spring Action training will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Boulder Mennonite Church, just east of the gas station at the southeast corner of Table Mesa and Broadway (3910 Table Mesa Drive). Learn the principles and practice of nonviolence. You may also attend for half a day (til 1 p.m.). Inspired by Occupy Wall Street and the fight for workers in Madison, Wisconsin, the 99% will rise up this spring. BOULDER ANTI-FRACKING RALLY IN BOULDER BEFORE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. Rally for local control and a ban on fracking in Boulder County outside the Boulder County Courthouse at 14th and Pearl Streets in Boulder. 4 p.m. Attend the Boulder County Commissioners meeting re: the temporary moratorium on fracking in Boulder County in the County Courthouse at 14th and Pearl Streets, third floor.
Tuesday, April 17 BOULDER Tax equity rally at noon outside Google at 26th and Pearl in Boulder. Corporations should pay their fair share; instead many pay absolutely no taxes. Let's change that.
Friday, April 20 DENVER Dr. Ebadi (past recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize) will be presenting a public lecture on the topic of "Faith in Humanity" in which she will delve into how to be most effective in creating peace and social justice through breaking down barriers, both religiously and culturally. At Colorado Heights University, 3001 South Federal Boulevard, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 pm and tickets for the event are $15, $10 for students with I.D. SUNDAY, APRIL 22 BOULDER NATIONAL SING OUT FOR EARTH DAY 1 p.m. AT THE BANDSHELL IN BOULDER, CORNER OF BROADWAY AND CANYON. THE MISSION: To sing "This Land Is Your Land" TOGETHER in the key of D (for consistency) across the nation and at the same time. Videotaped performances from around the country will be used to create a montage of the events. iPhones, Vimeo cams, flip phones - anything goes! PLEASE JOIN US! WE WILL GATHER AT THE BOULDER BANDSHELL AT 12:30 pm, sing promptly at 1 PM, then perhaps continue with a song circle - OR - walk thru the mall singing, if we'd like. AND the Nepalese Community will be having their celebration across the Street between the Municipal Building and the Library, and we are asking them to join us, too .. and they have asked us to join their parade at 2:30 - what a celebration of the Earth and All Beings! The goal is to organize a Colorado statewide campaign to oppose attacking Iran and for re-orienting our country's priorities toward rebuilding our fragmented and devastated communities.
